The Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, the National Key Clinical Specialty, is the largest and most powerful cardiovascular specialty in Northwest China. It has established multiple sub-specialties, including Coronary Heart Disease, Arrhythmia, Structural Heart Disease, Hypertension, Pulmonary Vascular Disease, Heart Failure, and Cardiac Emergency and Critical Care, forming a multidisciplinary integrated diagnosis and treatment model.

Complex Coronary Interventional Technology

Advanced diagnostic and therapeutic technologies including intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), optical coherence tomography (OCT), fractional flow reserve (FFR) measurement, coronary atherectomy, and hybrid endovascular and surgical procedures. Far ahead in both quantity and level of diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery diseases.

Cardiovascular Emergency & Critical Care

Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), Impella, non-invasive ventilator, ultrafiltration, and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). Significantly improved success rate for critically ill patients.

Structural Heart Disease Intervention

Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) carried out for emergency and critical cases. Successfully performed the first transcatheter mitral valve repair with MitraClip in Northwest China. Pioneering cryoablation for refractory hypertension.

Gene Therapy Breakthrough

Performed the world’s/Asia-Europe’s first original AAV gene therapy for homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH), achieving breakthrough effect and opening a new path for radical treatment of hereditary cardiovascular diseases.
